Dr. Ben Goertzel is a computer scientist, artificial intelligence researcher, and one of the world's foremost experts in Artificial General Intelligence (AGI), a term he helped popularize. For over two decades, he has been a leading figure in the AGI development community, focused on creating benevolent superhuman artificial general intelligence. Born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 1966, he is a dual US/Brazil citizen and Hong Kong Permanent Resident. He earned his PhD in mathematics from Temple University in 1990 at age 23. His extensive work has resulted in over 20 authored books and more than 140 scientific research papers. He is the primary architect of the OpenCog system, an open-source software framework for AGI.
